FOOD DAY WITH SUSTAINABLE CHERRY HILL

Have you heard about *Food Day? It is a nationwide celebration of healthy, affordable, and sustainably produced food and a grassroots campaign for better food policies. It builds all year long and culminates on October 24.

Sustainable Cherry Hill will be celebrating Food Day for the first time this year with a panel discussion and a proclamation by Cherry Hill Township. Hear from our speakers about local and broader efforts to promote safer, healthier diets, support sustainable and organic farms, reduce hunger, and protect the environment!

Join us on Thursday, October 24, 7-9pm for this FREE program. Attendance is free, but registration is required. Please bring a can or boxed food donation for the Cherry Hill Food and Outreach Council.

Panel: Moderated by Sustainable Cherry Hill Green Health Task Force Member, Paul Hanley

Hina Dadhania, Health Coach and Integrative Nutritionist: Hina will discuss the basics of eating healthy and shopping and cooking for healthy foods on a budget.

Carol O’Neill, Volunteer, Heifer International: Carol will to give an overview about her organization and the impact they are making in this country and internationally. Heifer International partners with community groups to form development plans and train beneficiaries in animal well-being, agrocology, water quality, gender equality and community development. This training enables them to care for livestock, grow crops sustainably and further lift themselves out of poverty.

Ari Rosenberg, Urban Farmer and Educator, Center for Environmental Transformation (CFET): Ari will discuss access to healthy food in disenfranchised communities like Camden and how CFET is addressing those needs through urban farming, farmers markets, healthy foods in corner stores, nutrition education and more.

Paul Stridick, Director of Community Development, Cherry Hill Township: Paul will discuss the Mayor’s Wellness Campaign, the Cherry Hill Township Food Day Proclamation and plans for a Cherry Hill farmers market in the parking lot at the new Cherry Hill Whole Foods.

Barbara Thomas: Volunteer, GMO Free NJ: Barbara will provide a basic primer on Genetically Modified Organisms and the importance of knowledge and labeling.
